Steven understands how larger policy changes will impact our neighborhoods. He has laid out plans for our neighborhoods shaped by our voices that he will be able to deliver on DAY 1.

NEIGHBORHOOD PLANS

  • Sunnyside is one of the most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods in Queens. A neighborhood defined by walkable streets, strong small businesses, mass transit access, and a deep sense of community. But residents are still feeling pressure: rents are rising, small businesses are struggling, traffic is worsening, and major decisions about the future of Sunnyside, especially Sunnyside Yards, are moving forward without enough local input.

Steven' Raga’s five-point plan for Sunnyside is grounded in what neighbors are asking for: safer streets, a community-driven vision for Sunnyside Yards, support for small businesses, better transit, and housing stability. This is a practical, forward-looking roadmap to protect what makes Sunnyside special while planning responsibly for its future. Steven Raga’s plan for Sunnyside includes:

    1. A Community-Driven Sunnyside Yards Plan

    2. Safer Streets & Better Traffic Flow

    3. Protect Small Businesses on Greenpoint & Skillman

    4. Climate Resilience & Environmental Health

    5. Affordable, Accessible, and Inclusive Housing

  • Ridgewood deserves a State Senator who will protect what makes these neighborhoods strong while addressing the challenges families face every day. Steven Raga will fight to restore rent-stabilized housing units and advance policies that keep rents affordable for working families and seniors. He will work to reduce school overcrowding and ensure local schools have the resources students need to succeed.

Steven will champion safer streets by investing in pedestrian safety, protected bike infrastructure, traffic-calming measures, and transportation options that make it easier and safer to get around. He will strengthen protections for seniors and immigrant families by expanding access to essential services, language access, healthcare, and legal support. He will also advocate for stronger public transit connections and expanded bus service to better connect residents to jobs, schools, and services.

Finally, Steven will support the small businesses that anchor neighborhood life along Myrtle Avenue, Forest Avenue, Metropolitan Avenue, and Fresh Pond Road, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to thrive in an increasingly expensive city.

  • Elmhurst is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the world, and its families deserve a State Senator who will fight for their safety, opportunity, and ability to thrive. Steven Raga will work to strengthen protections for immigrants by expanding access to legal services, language access, healthcare, and other essential resources while standing up to attacks on immigrant communities. He will combat hate crimes and discrimination by supporting community-based safety initiatives, investing in prevention efforts, and ensuring every resident feels safe regardless of their race, religion, immigration status, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Steven will champion the small businesses that power Elmhurst's economy along Broadway and Grand Avenue, supporting investments that keep commercial corridors vibrant, clean, and welcoming. He will fight for faster, more reliable, and fully accessible M and R train service, as well as improved bus service that connects residents to jobs, schools, and healthcare. And he will protect tenants and small immigrant homeowners from displacement, rising costs, and predatory practices, helping ensure that longtime residents can continue building their futures in the neighborhood they call home.

  • Astoria needs a State Senator who will fight to keep the neighborhood affordable, safe, and vibrant for the families, workers, and small businesses that make it special. Steven Raga will push back against rising rents by protecting tenants, preserving affordable housing, and advancing policies that help working families stay in the communities they love. He will advocate for cleaner streets and stronger sanitation services, including addressing persistent quality-of-life concerns and trash accumulation around elevated train infrastructure.

Steven will work to end traffic violence along dangerous corridors such as 31st Street and Astoria Boulevard through investments in street safety, traffic-calming measures, and pedestrian-first infrastructure. He will support the small businesses that make Steinway Street one of Queens' most dynamic commercial corridors, helping them remain competitive and protected from displacement. And he will fight for faster, more reliable, and fully accessible N and W train service, along with improved bus service, so Astoria residents can depend on a transit system that connects them efficiently to work, school, and the rest of the city.

  • Woodside is a neighborhood built by immigrants, working families, and seniors who deserve a government that delivers on the basics and protects their future. Steven Raga will fight for reliable, accessible public transit by holding the MTA accountable for improving 7 train service, closing ADA accessibility gaps, and ensuring transit funding is used to make buses and trains more dependable for everyone. He will stand up for immigrant families by defending due process, expanding access to legal services, and protecting communities from harmful immigration enforcement policies. Steven will champion long-overdue investments in Woodside Houses and other public housing developments, ensuring residents have consistent heat, hot water, safe living conditions, and the dignity they deserve. He will work to keep Woodside clean and welcoming by cracking down on illegal dumping, littering, and graffiti while securing resources to improve neighborhood quality of life. And he will fight to preserve Woodside's affordability by protecting rent-stabilized apartments, preserving Mitchell-Lama housing, and advancing policies that allow working families, seniors, and longtime residents to remain in the community they call home.

  • Maspeth wants a State Senator who will fight for the quality of life, safety, and neighborhood stability that residents have worked hard to build. Steven Raga will strengthen public safety by addressing persistent concerns around illegal dumping, illegal parking, excessive truck traffic, and noise pollution that impact daily life. He will support the small businesses that anchor Grand Avenue and serve as the backbone of the local economy, helping them thrive in an increasingly challenging economic environment. Steven will advocate for investments to repair cracked sidewalks, potholes, and truck-damaged roads while addressing chronic flooding and infrastructure issues that frustrate residents and businesses alike. He will work to end Maspeth's transit challenges by fighting for more frequent and reliable bus service, improved neighborhood connectivity, and dependable Access-A-Ride service for seniors and people with disabilities. And he will protect tenants and small homeowners by strengthening consumer protections, combating deed theft and real estate scams, and ensuring that longtime residents can remain secure in their homes and their community.
